A-State Faculty

Dr. Kristin Leitterman defies modern convention as a solo artist of oboe and voice, bringing exciting and unusual programs to audiences. She makes it her responsibility to commission works for oboe/voice, with works by Jason Coleman, MuXuan Lin and Lyle Davidson. She has participated in numerous summer festivals and competitions including Bowdoin International Music Festival, New Music on the Point, Eastern Music Festival, Hot Springs Music Festival, Banff Center for the Arts, the Lucarelli Oboe Master Class, Missouri Fine Arts Academy, the Midwest Double Reed Society Young Artist Competition (first place), and a National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition (placing second). Additionally she was a semi-finalist in the Concert Artist Guild’s annual competition in New York City.
In addition to performing, Dr. Leitterman is dedicated to bringing music to the younger generations. She is currently the Instructor of Oboe at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR. Her duties also include Aural Theory, Double Reed Techniques, as well as coaching small chamber ensembles.
Dr. Leitterman is the Director of the Lucarelli Oboe Master Class, a week-long immersive oboe master class founded by Bert Lucarelli in 1996. She has also presented master classes at Manhattan School of Music, the Hartt School, and Southeast Missouri State University. Additionally she has presented lecture recitals at The Juilliard School, the CUNY Graduate Center, and the Brazilian Double Reed Society's annual conference in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil.
She holds degrees from the City University of New York’s Graduate Center, The Hartt School, New England Conservatory, and the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance. Her teachers include Humbert Lucarelli, Mark McEwen, Barbara Bishop, and Amy Burton.

Dr. Dale Clark has served as Adjunct Instructor of Bassoon at Arkansas State University since 2005. He is also Artist Faculty at the Saarburg, Germany International Chamber Music Festival and School where his student bassoon quartet has served as the “Festival Bassoons.” Dr. Clark has also served as Artist Faculty at the Sewanee Music Festival. His student quartet also performed on the John Miller Master Class at the International Double Reed Festival in Columbus, Georgia in 2016. Dr. Clark has appeared at IDRS conferences as performer, composer, panel member and reed class teacher.
His guest artist recitals include the University of Washington, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music, Berklee College of Music, Florida State University, University of Texas-Austin, Cork, Ireland School of Music as well as being a soloist with the Harvard Band at the Hatch Shell in Boston. He has performed for 14 years as the Principal Bassoonist in the Delta Symphony and as Guest Principal Bassoon with the Memphis Symphony, Arkansas Symphony and the North Arkansas Symphony. He appeared in Boston with the Boston Lyric Opera’s production of Lucia di Lammermoorwith Dominique Labelle. His chamber music collaborations include performing six years as the bassoonist with the Memphis Woodwind Quintet and two recitals with the Marian Anderson String Quartet.
Dr. Clark is owner/ reedmaker of Clark Bassoon Reeds, providing professional quality bassoon reeds to over 2000 customers around the world.
His bassoon teachers include Edward Knob, Keith McClelland, Gary Echols and Matthew Ruggiero.
